Lana Del Rey has discussed the marked change in sound on her new album Ultraviolence, admitting she wasn't keen on some of the hip hop-influenced production on debut Born To Die.

In a new, incredibly Lana Del Rey-esque interview with The New York Times (which opens with a paragraph describing how she asked a clairvoyant: "am I meant for this world?"), the 'West Coast' singer acknowledges how different the rockier sounds of Ultraviolence are to the hip-hop tinged Born To Die, admitting: "I'm not crazy about some of the production on Born To Die".

Del Rey also discusses how uninspired she is by artists from this decade. "Think of what's going on now," she said. "Where am I going to get my inspiration? I couldn't think of a thing today that I would really genuinely want to be a part of."

The star also touches on feminism in response to the criticism aimed at her in the past for her passive, romantic lyricism. "For me, a true feminist is someone who is a woman who does exactly what she wants," Del Rey explains. "If my choice is to, I don’t know, be with a lot of men, or if I enjoy a really physical relationship, I don't think that's necessarily being anti-feminist."
